Im Dezember desselben Jahres wurde die Schweizer K\u00fcnstlerin DESSA (Deborah Sharon Abeles) in S\u00fcdrhodesien, dem heutigen Simbabwe, geboren. Alice Salomon (1876\u20131948), Sozialreformerin, P\u00e4dagogin, Feministin, \u00d6konomin und Pazifistin, gr\u00fcndete 1908 die Soziale Frauenschule in Berlin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Sie schrieb 28 Fachb\u00fccher und \u00fcber 500 Artikel. Dies ist eines der Hauptthemen in DESSAs Werk. Ihre \u201eStolzesteine\u201c\u00a0\u200b\u200bsind kleine, aufrecht stehende Steine\u00a0\u200b\u200bin ihren Bildern. Sie ehren das Andenken an eine oder mehrere Personen und deren Lebenswerk.<br \/>\nDESSA widmet ihre vorliegende Bildserie der Er\u00f6ffnung des Berliner Kaufhauses Nathan Israel am 10. M\u00e4rz 1815 \u2013 vor genau 200 Jahren. Sie ist eine Hommage an die Philanthropie und das soziale Engagement des Unternehmens \u00fcber vier Generationen. Die Geschichte des Berliner Kaufhauses N. Israel wurde Teil ihrer k\u00fcnstlerischen Arbeit, seitdem sie das Firmenalbum \u201eDie Hygiene im Wandel der Zeiten\u201c von 1912 entdeckt hatte. DESSAs erster Tribut an N. Israel aus dem Jahr 2003 wurde in der Galerie Bremer in Berlin sowie im J\u00fcdischen Museum Westfalen pr\u00e4sentiert und inspirierte eine Ausstellung \u00fcber Hygiene am Mus\u00e9e de Pully in der Schweiz.<br \/>\nBei DESSA l\u00f6sen die allgegenw\u00e4rtigen Stolpersteine ein Gef\u00fchl der Verst\u00f6rung und Verletzung aus. Sie liegen flach in den B\u00fcrgersteigen, von F\u00fc\u00dfen getreten, verschmutzt nicht nur durch Staub, Stiefel und Fahrr\u00e4der, sondern auch durch V\u00f6gel, Hunde und Zigaretten. Menschen blicken auf sie herab, anstatt zu ihnen hinauf im Sinne ihrer \u201eStolzesteine\u201c.\u00a0Holt Meyer, Professor f\u00fcr Slawische Literaturwissenschaft an der Universit\u00e4t Erfurt, hat, inspiriert von DESSAs Stolzesteinen, einen Aufsatz verfasst, in dem er sagt: \u201eDESSAs Werke laden uns ein, mit den Seelen unserer Nachbarn zu leben, und zwar nicht in der Haltung des Stolperns, sondern in der Haltung des Stolzes. [\u2026] Stolpern ist Hinfallen, was tendenziell zur Verletzung oder sogar zum Tod f\u00fchren kann. In diesem Zusammenhang ist es wichtig, sich daran zu erinnern, dass die wohl wichtigste Assoziation f\u00fcr das Bild des Stolperns im Deutschen dem Neuen Testament entlehnt ist. In einem Paulusbrief (1 Kor 1:23) wird darauf verwiesen, dass der ,gekreuzigte Christus\u2018 ausgerechnet f\u00fcr die Juden ein ,Stolperstein\u2018 (skandalon) sei. <span class=\"s1\">Ohne den christlichen Glauben kritisieren zu wollen, muss ich feststellen, dass solche Passagen<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span>in bestimmten geschichtlichen Epochen die Flammen antij\u00fcdischer Gesinnung angefacht haben.
