Frauen Museum Wiesbaden | 02.09.2018 – 10.02.2019

The central concern of her artistic work is to view the German-Jewish past and culture as a living, effective part of our society today. DESSA creates a visual biography through painting and collage, connecting the complexity of the past to the present.
In 1908 Alice Salomon founded the Social Women’s School in Berlin, in 1937 she was forced into emigration and died in August 1948 – alone – in New York. In December of the same year the Swiss artist DESSA (Deborah Sharon Abeles) was born in Southern Rhodesia, today’s Zimbabwe.
The frauen museum wiesbaden is showing the exhibition for the first time on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Alice Salomon’s death.
